Plato’s Cave

In Concrete Images

I produced an interpretation of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave in 2001 at Theater of Yugen at NOHspace in San Francisco under the name itbecomestheatre.  The show involved a re-imagined dialogue written by John Dobson alongside a butoh interpretation by Collapsing Silence.  Music was performed by Tim Daniel.  I mixed and projected video throughout.  The show enjoyed four sold out performances.  We held a question and answer sessions after each performance.  A clip from one of the performances can be seen below.

Language Begins

A fundamental characteristic of motion picture language, one that is germane to all photographic arts, is that it refers to objects by using the objects to which it refers.

Permanent

If you are contemplating permanent and need a word to express it, “stop” would be the utterance par excellence. Permanent is a stop: the stopping of change.
